RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said that India is often advised to address the issues of its minorities, but now we are seeing what situation minority communities are facing in other countries. On the occasion of the inauguration of ‘Hindu Seva Mahotsav’ here, Bhagwat also said that efforts are being made to establish hegemony by talking about world peace.
He said, “Big things are being talked about world peace. We (India) are also being advised about world peace, but at the same time, wars are also not stopping. We are often asked to worry about minorities in our own country while we see what kind of situation minorities are facing outside.” However, the RSS chief made no mention of violence against the Hindu community in neighboring Bangladesh. Not mentioned, but the RSS has expressed concern about the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh in recent weeks following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina from power.
‘The world has forgotten this religion’
Bhagwat said, “Human religion is the eternal religion of all religions, which is the world religion. It is also called Hinduism. However, the world has forgotten this religion. They have the same religion, but they forgot, and because of that, today we are seeing different types of problems including environmental problems.” He said that many people outside our country think that without India playing its role. World peace is not possible. RSS chief Bhagwat said, “He believes that it is only India and its rich tradition that can do this, the way it has happened for 3,000 years. It is our responsibility to fulfill this need of the world.
‘We remain indifferent in publicity’
Talking about Hindu Seva Mahotsav, he said that there is a perception that only people from outside came to India and dedicated themselves to service. Bhagwat said, “The reality is that the cumulative service of all the saints of different sects of Sanatan Dharma is much more than the total service done by the people who came from outside. The only thing is, we do not overly publicize what we do for the society. We remain indifferent in campaigning.” He said that due to Indians not displaying “spirit of service”, people had created the impression that “we cannot do anything”.
Bhagwat said, “When the British ruled us, they taught us, and till recently we have been learning the same things. People from outside came one after another and defeated us and became rulers. It became our character to obey his orders. As soon as these people came from outside and started teaching us, we forgot our rich heritage, ancient knowledge.
‘Our population is declining’
Mohan Bhagwat warned people against ‘thinking only about themselves’ and said that this was leading to population decline. He was addressing the inauguration of ‘Hindu Seva Mahotsav’ here. The RSS chief said, “People who think only about themselves do not want a family. They think why should they get married, why should they become someone’s slave. Yes, career is also important but one should not think only about oneself because a person is there for the society, environment, God and country and we are very grateful to them. Because of this our numbers (population) are decreasing. There is no other reason for this.”
A few days ago, Bhagwat had expressed concern over the decline in population growth rate. He had said that if the population growth rate goes below 2.1, the society will be destroyed. Meanwhile, Treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth, Swami Govind Giri Maharaj, while addressing a program of Hindu Seva Mahotsav in Pune on Thursday, said that everyone has understood the message of ‘Batenge to Katenge’ but one more thing which everyone should understand. What is needed is ‘even if it decreases, it will be cut’. He said, “Therefore the number of Hindus should increase.”
